NEW ARCHITECTURE AND ART CITY GUIDES

5 great work from home space ideas to help motivate and inspire

With more people now having the option to work from home, a better work-life balance is the main reason why people choose to do so. Here are some of my favourite internet worthy home office spaces that will hopefully inspire you to copy.

1. The Wire Wall Grid

You know those wire racks you see in homeware stores and craftstores where they hang the items for purchase on extended rails in a row? Those are now trendy items you can take home as a decor piece... yes.
Instead of placing memos and post it notes everywhere, these wire grids became a trendy way to hang and organise notes, pictures, storyboard ideas and even hang items you may use in the office: such as stationary, working items and even house plants, to make your wall a green wall.
Amazon now sell them in the plenty and they come in so many sizes it's addictive. It gives an industrial/workshop vibe, and even if you had a workshop it may be of interest as a display of your work and tools, especially the stationary consistently in use, as a reminder to use it or lose it.
Etsy sell amazing artsy ones, with bespoke sizes and additional shelving and pegs/pins to accessorize them with. You just have to be careful of the weight! If you really want to hang a lot of stuff on them other than papers and magazine, definitely fix them to the wall with screws and wall plugs!

I actually love these. They are a way to place something on your wall without sticking anything to the wall itself.
If an industrial/workshop look is what you like, this piece is something to consider.

2. Wall Prints and Paintings

Surrounding yourselve in artwork and/or quotes that you love while you work is not cliché... it's natural! We love to immerse ourselves in items that show off what we enjoy and subjects we are fans of.

One thing I love is when a dispay wall has a theme - fashion and travel? home decor and plants? All artwork represents something, and to have them in your workspace is a great idea.

Etsy have such a great variety of prints, which are made by many print-on-demand artists. From maps of different countries/cities to plant encyclopedia paintings, etsy is such a great place to gather these.

3. Plants/Foliage

Livening up any space in your home with foliage is always recommended. They're to help bring the outdoors in, and for me it keeps my brain from feeling trapped inside all day long while I work.
A good variety of plants are always great. I love a big Boston fern, and little succulents placed everywhere. But as a reccommendation, I would look out for plants that don't require much maintenance. If neglected at your desk they can be a right downer when they die!

4. Comfy but Stylish Seats

Gamers love a good comfy seat. A seat they can stay in for days and days without ever having to get up. As comfortable as these chairs are, they end up not always matching your decor style, or the "boho chic" look you may want to go for.
My approach to this dilemma is looking for a chair that is close to being an armchair or a sofa. We are notorious to happily sit on comfy armchairs and sofas for hours and hours on end. Why not have a desk chair that has the same build but is shaped to go under your desk?

5. Lighting

.

Different light makes for different moods. When you want to concentrate, you may want a dim light, with little intensity that won't distract you. Or you may want a bright light that helps take away from the blue ambient light from your computer screen or laptop. These options are valid to what light suits your working atmosphere best and your preferences for working. In a company office setting, the main setting is that we don't really have a choice what type of light is used while we work, especially for the majority of us work in open space offices. Furthermore, a stylish looking floor or desk lamp is something of an extraordinary addition, which colleagues may frown upon.
